The Save Mashpee-Wakeby Pond Alliance is a coalition of concerned citizens who love the pond and are determined to ensure its preservation, protection and enhancement as a recreational, economic and cultural focal point for our community. We have witnessed significant degradation of the pond in recent years due to an increase of nutrients from human activity. This has caused several cyanobacteria bloom events which triggered public health advisories to stay out of the water. We cannot and will not let our pond deteriorate any further and must restore it to its former glory so that future generations can fully enjoy its bounties for years to come.

Now It's Time to Take Action!
The sobering results of the diagnostic study of Mashpee-Wakeby Pond were presented to the Mashpee Select Board on December 16, 2024. We’ve been waiting three years for this study to be completed. Now that we have it, it’s time for action!!

Assessment – Complete the diagnostic study of Mashpee-Wakeby Pond and drive next steps
Sewers – Ensure the towns of Mashpee and Sandwich expedite the conversion to sewers
Fertilizer – Enact policy changes to reduce and possibly eliminate fertilizer use
Run-Off – Address areas of severe stormwater run-off into Mashpee-Wakeby Pond
Educate – Build awareness and engagement among residents throughout Mashpee and Sandwich
